Once upon a time in a land far away a website was created for me with love (by the amazing Corine Pettit) and a creative dream lived in a woman, both have been dormant for a long time.  January 1st is an arbitrary date in many ways, but it has become symbolic for many as a fresh start and a time to ambitiously tackle goals. I created a vision board, picked a word for the year, and made a 19 for 2019 list.  On that list one of the items was to be here on this website creating content, creativity has always been so crucial to my well-being and was woefully neglected in 2018. 2018 was a funny year, a tremendously empowering year, and a hectic year.

When thinking about the year past it is so easy to dwell on the negative aspects, but in reality there is much to be grateful for and many fantastic experiences had.  I ran a 50 mile trail race (Old Cascadia) through the mountains, spent three weeks traveling home with my family, got a doggo named Metolius, and finished my first term of a MSW program.  With all of this going on I went on many adventures with Jon, Midas, his kids, and kept that romance blooming. Balancing it all was difficult and important things fell to the wayside including my creativity and being connected.  I challenge you to take a second look at your year and think about all the amazing things you did, because I am sure that despite the shit on the surface you rocked the hell out of 2018 (sorry for the language, but it’s true).

I encourage you to not only take a good look at how amazing you are and what you have accomplished, but also have fun thinking about what you want out of 2019!  I will share with you my 2019 word and 19 for 2019, and feel free to do the same. I’m here and listening!

My word for 2019 is CONNECT.  Connect to myself. Connect to loved ones.  Connect to nature and the world around me.

19 for 2019:

  1. Connect daily
  2. Floss daily
  3. Gratitude journal practice
  4. Teach Metolius leash manners
  5. Go on a backpacking trip
  6. Send birthday letters
  7. Monthly soap making
  8. Monthly blog post
  9. Take a trip home
  10. Go on a road trip
  11. Make a mud pie
  12. Go fishing

  17. Create a garden

These New Year projects aside from the vision board were something I heard about on the podcast Happier by Gretchen Rubin.  Her podcast along with podcast listening in general is something that I highly recommend, and could definitely be one of you 19 for 2019 items.  Hope you are off to a splendid year and stay tuned for more content to come!

Cheers,

EB
